In last month's issue we mentioned some of the exciting new partnerships and teaming relationships we have been working on. We are very excited about all the synergy. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - WQN Acquires MASTER Distributor Agreement with CIS
 

Talk about being in the right place at the right time. A revolutionary product (and well kept secret) that is over 10 years old, and has really taken off has found its way to WQN, Inc. We are happy to offer a new series of articles that come direct to you from one of our quality personnel out in the trenches. They are working with registrars, implementing quality systems, helping to develop new standards, working with many of our clients - out in the trenches. Our first article is brought to you by Dr.Mehrdad Tajkarimi who is one of our esteemed Food Safety Consultant and Certified Lead Auditors. Mehrdad is truly involved on the cutting edge of research at University of California - Davis. Mehrdad writes...

"In many countries worldwide, legislation on the safety and suitability of foodstuffs requires HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) to be put in place. In addition to HACCP requirement, prerequisite programs are one of the most important part of comprehensive HACCP implementation, prerequisite programs should be well specified and documented, fully operational and verified. In order to facilitate the successful application and implementation of HACCP, various HACCP requirements or criteria are being developed and applied in the individual countries; these differ greatly in contents and levels, and some call for third-party auditing organizations. In different countries, the experience acquired in HACCP implementation differs substantially because the auditors have different levels of experience and knowledge, resulting in various levels of implementation of certified HACCP systems. On the other hand, it seems that all food producers need to have a designed, operated and continually improved program within the framework of a structured food safety management system, and combine it with all management processes within the organization.

ISO 22000 was established in 2005 for addressing food safety management systems by the combination of quality management systems with HACCP and prerequisite programs. ISO 22000 in a food company could prepare a comprehensive approach for both safety and quality aspects of production with less time and documentation process and more productivity..."

There are so many ways to improve an operation. Professional assistance is necessary to get the job done right. We finally broke down and installed a proper water filtration system in our office. This could have easily been a weekend project, but rather than spend the time we decided to bring in an expert. Guess what? That short project took him 6 hours because of other potential problems we did not realize. We spent a little more money but we received some great improvements and some really clean H2O! Quality Improvement is just the same. Leave it to the experts and you will receive far more return than you ever realized.
